Classes, Workshops, and Lessons
Susanna has been teaching for more than 20 years in a variety of settings, including public and private schools, summer programs and camps, adult programs, and private lessons. Currently, she offers private classes to groups and individuals upon request.
Susanna is very open to meeting her students' needs and is willing to teach virtually or in person. She primarily teaches painting and drawing but enjoys helping people achieve their artistic and creative dreams regardless of method or medium. She works with all levels of students but has a particular soft spot for those who are a little nervous to start or rekindle their creative fires and firmly believes that she can teach anyone to find their artistic voice. Above all, Susanna wants to help people feel comfortable in the world of art.
Want to learn something specific? Contact Susanna, and she will either create a course specified to your needs or help you find the resources to make your artistic dreams come to life. Susanna is open to teaching adventures, too. Feel free to contact her if you have an idea for a unique artistic learning experience. (One of her favorite long weekend workshops she taught through the Maine College of Art was “Llamas and the Landscape," a plein air glamping adventure in Bethel, Maine.) Susanna teaches art because she loves to see the thrill people experience during an “aha” moment. She believes in teaching with compassion and empathy, joyful enthusiasm, and positive reinforcement. Feedback is given, not criticism. Susanna manages her students with ongoing optimistic engagement, whether learning individually or in a classroom setting. She fosters a healthy creative environment with open and honest dialogue, producing work that speaks to both creator and audience. |
